EU registry

Passports that EU law requires must be registered in the EU Digital Product Passport registry before the product is placed on the market. The EU registry tab on a product prepares everything the registration contains, so whoever registers has it in one place. Veribl does not submit to the registry for you. This article is for the people who prepare passports and handle compliance.

What the registry is

The registry is run by the EU. What a registration contains is set by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1778. The registry has been live since 20 July 2026 with a testing environment. According to the Commission's DPP Registry user guide (v1.03, September 2026), registering a product passport is not yet possible, because the data catalogue for batteries, the first product group, is not finished. Organisations verify themselves with a qualified electronic seal (companies) or qualified electronic signature (sole traders) from a qualified trust service provider. See the Commission's DPP Registry page.

Veribl does not connect to the registry. It prepares the details, and you or someone registering on your behalf enters them in the registry portal.

Open the EU registry tab

  1. Go to Passports and open a product.
  2. Select the EU registry tab.

If no rule with a passport date set in law is chosen for the product, the tab tells you no registration is needed yet. You can still prepare the details.

What the tab shows

  • Passport level — one passport for the product model, or one per individual battery for battery passports. Batches are optional extras.
  • Unique product identifier — the GS1 Digital Link the passport's QR code opens, built from the GTIN
  • Economic operator — your company name and address from Settings › Company, or the product's own operator, for example an importer
  • Operator identifier — your EORI number or GS1 GLN, from Settings › Company. For a product with its own operator, enter that operator's identifier on this tab.
  • Imported into the EU (released for free circulation) — switch this on if the product is brought into the EU from outside and cleared by customs
  • Commodity code (CN) — the 8-digit customs code. Required in some cases, such as detergents that are imported. Otherwise recommended. The tab links to a TARIC lookup.
  • Manufacturing site — kept with the registration details and not shown on the public passport
  • Passport service provider — Veribl
  • Published passport — the version that is live

A list headed Still needed before registering tells you what is missing, for example a valid GTIN, the operator's address, a commodity code, or a published passport version.

Download the registration details

Click Registration details (CSV) for one row per identifier, ready to enter in the registry portal, or JSON for the same data as JSON.

Record the registration

After you register, the registry gives you a registration identifier. Under After registering, enter the Registration identifier and Registered on date, then click Save registry details. The product then shows as registered.

Note: Which products need a registration depends on the rules chosen for them. See Passport rules and readiness for the legal status and dates.
